Santos took on Libertad in a Copa Sudamericana quarter-final first leg tie on Thursday night.
The home side were given a penalty in the 43rd minute which Carlos Sanchez scored. However, Santos were reduced to 10 men after 57 minutes when Kaiky Fernandes saw red. Moments later, the Paraguayans levelled through Daniel Bocanegra, but a 93rd minute own goal by Alexander Barboza gave the Brazilians the advantage going into the second leg. The second leg between the teams is on Friday 20th August at 02:30 CEST (19th evening in Paraguay). The winners will face Rosario Central of Argentina or RB Bragantino of Brazil in the last four.
