Flamengo beat Athletico Paranaense 1-0 in Guayaquil and became champions of the Copa Libertadores for the third time in their history. Gabriel Barbosa, widely known as 'Gabigol', scored the only goal.
Thanks to winning the title, the Brazilian side qualified for the next FIFA Club World Cup, where they could go up against Real Madrid, last Champions League winner, in a potential final if both sides win their semi-finals.
Without going further, during the celebrations in the changing room, the Flamengo players were excited for a possible match-up with the Madrid side and dedicated a song to the Spanish side: "Real Madrid, you can wait, your moment will come".
For now, the date for the Club World Cup 2022 has not been confirmed. However, everything seems to indicate that it could be played at the end of February or the start of March 2023, with a host yet to be decided.
For now, as well as Flamengo and Real Madrid, the other qualified teams are Seattle Sounders (USA - CONCACAF), Wydad Casablanca (Morocco - CAF) and Auckland City (New Zealand - OFC). There are still two more places to be decided.
